Over 1,000 competitors of all ages and classes took over Malmömässan the other week to compete in HYROX. When the popular fitness race was organized for the first time in southern Sweden, it was not only Swedes and Danes who showed up, but there was a large international participation with a real party as a result.
HYROX in Malmö had a wide range of participants in terms of age, nationality and training level. The PRO class offered top ten participants from as many as seven nations where Dylan Scott from the USA took home first place in a time of 00:58:48. Among the women in the PRO class, it was Vicky Polydorou from South Africa who placed best with a time of 1:10:22.
- The feeling in Malmö was fantastic from the moment you entered the arena until the last competitors left. We saw many impressive performances, both individually and in groups. We also saw an unusually large participation of "ordinary exercisers" which is always extra fun because it so clearly shows that HYROX is for everyone, says Antonia Fält-Kottulinsky, Brand Manager for HYROX in the Nordic region.
Pär Bergsman had the best Swedish time in HYROX PRO with 01:03:14 which was good enough for sixth place. Tilde Jensen was the fastest Swedish woman and also took a first place in the regular HYROX class with an impressive 01:03:14. The Danish athletes also showed strong results, Sebastian Ifversen who competed in HYROX PRO finished in 01:01:17 and among women Helene Valeur was the fastest Dane in 01:10:28.
- The fact that HYROX has become a matter of course for many professional athletes is nothing new, but this time I was particularly pleased with the large participation in the normal class. Especially when I met two ladies from England who had never done anything like this before, but had seen HYROX in Malmö as an obvious adventure over the weekend. It shows the greatness of this type of competition, Antonia Fält-Kottulinsky continues.
HYROX in Malmö was the second competition organized in Sweden with a focus on Swedish and Danish participants. However, as usual, many athletes traveled in and in the end there were around 20 different nationalities who met up and competed with the most distant guests from the USA and Canada.
